The Battle of Gettysburg started on july3 and ended on july3.It was fought in and around Gettysburg,Penssylvania,as part as the Gettysburg Campaign.It was the battle with the largest number of casualities in the American Civil War.George Gordon Meade´s army of the Potomac,defeated attacks by Robert E.Lee (confederacy).On the third day of the battle,fighting resumed on Culp´s hill and cavalry battles raged to the east and south but the main event was a dramatic infantry assault by 12,500 confederates against the center of the union line on the Cementary Ridge.
